CARES has a growing order book in Nigeria in infrastructure development, working for interesting clients. We have exciting expansion plans and are working on a range of interesting projects throughout West Africa.

CARES now has a vacancy based in their Lagos office to be part of the team responsible for bidding and management of civil infrastructure works, mostly with a maritime emphasis.


Job Description

The work involved is a mixture of: Project Management, Technical input and Client liaison.

CARES has a regional headquarters in Lagos, where the engineer will be based, although travel throughout our area of operations may be necessary as the need arises.

The engineer will have a thorough background in project based civil engineering and be comfortable with working in a team environment, with initiative. Previous experience is likely to have been with a major UK consultant. The engineer will be expected to interface with all levels of our Clients’ establishment, drawing upon the knowledge of the various CARES experts and individual project managers as required.

The engineer will:

  • Receive project enquiries and prepare proposals for civil infrastructure projects (mostly maritime based) as part of the engineering team;
  • Assist in providing technical and administrative support as required to individual contracts;
  • Be innovative in assisting our Client’s to overcome challenges whilst maximising opportunities to sustain and grow CARES business;
  • Compile project reports, programmes and forecasts;
  • Be expected to work hours as required for the project, typically five days / week;
  • Be employed for an initial probation period of three months, which may be extended under certain circumstances. After this, two months’ notice from either party will be necessary to terminate the contract.

The engineer will report to the Associate Director - Engineering also based in Lagos. The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate plus 7-10 years’ experience, be professionally qualified or approaching same. It is likely that the candidate will be an engineer with maritime or infrastructure experience, or as a project manager in a maritime related field.

The position would suit a Nigerian candidate looking to relocate to Lagos.


  • Initial contract for 12 months extendable to permanent, subject to agreement by both parties;
  • Attractive salary, plus company bonus scheme;
  • Bachelor status contract;
  • 22 working days leave per annum;
