SENIOR CIVIL PROJECTS ENGINEER
To be part of the team responsible for bidding, design and management of civil infrastructure consultancy works, mostly with a maritime emphasis.
Job Description
The work involved is a mixture of:
- Technical input, Team and Project Management. CARES Group has a regional headquarters in Lagos, where the engineer will be based, although travel throughout our area of operations may be necessary as the need arises.
- The engineer will have a thorough background in design and design management of civil infrastructure consultancy works, mostly with a maritime emphasis. He/she will be comfortable with working in a team environment, with initiative. Previous experience is likely to have been with a major UK consultant.
The engineer will:
- Receive project enquiries and prepare proposals for civil infrastructure consultancy projects (mostly maritime based) as part of the engineering team;
- Assist in managing design, providing technical and administrative support as required to the team;
- Be innovative in assisting our Client’s to overcome challenges whilst maximising opportunities to sustain and grow CARES Group business;
- Compile project reports, programmes, budgets and forecasts;
- Be expected to work hours as required for the project, typically five days / week; The engineer will report to the Associate Director – Engineering also based in Lagos. The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate plus 10 years’ solid relevant experience in consultancy, be professionally qualified or imminently approaching same. It is likely that the candidate will be a civil engineer with ports and harbours infrastructure consultancy experience.
- Experience in working in West Africa will be an advantage.
- The position would also suit a Nigerian candidate looking to relocate to Lagos.
- A key requirement is that the candidate must be proficient in technical written English.
Benefits
- 24 month contract renewable after 12 months’ subject to satisfactorily completing an initial probation period of 3 months, which may be extended under certain circumstances. After this, two months’ notice from either party will be given to terminate the contract.

- What is your level of proficiency in English?
- Have you worked on marine civil engineering design?
- Are you a Chartered Engineer?
- Have you worked for an engineering consultancy in the UK, Nigeria or elsewhere?
