tunuoluwa is a passionate, chartered environmental practitioner with almost 13 years’ experience focusing on Environment Management Systems Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, Municipal Waste Management, Environmental and Social Risk Management, Environmental and Social Due Diligence, Environmental Legislation and Guidelines and other key topics within the Environmental sector.
She began her career as a Sustainability Analyst in a water treatment company where she was part of a team that successfully incorporated sustainable measures into water treatment processes. She was part of a team that developed a carbon footprint accounting tool that measured the carbon footprint of the various wastewater treatment options provided by the organisation and was also a part of the team that produced the company’s Sustainability Report that won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2008. During her stint in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods industry, she was presented an organisational award for Innovation Excellence for successfully introducing beverage carton recycling into Nigeria with the conversion of waste beverage cartons into composite boards.
At CARES, she has managed Environmental Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Feasibility Studies, Research and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs). As a participant in various multi-disciplinary projects, she provides supervisory support to team members of other disciplines having worked on various environmental and social projects within Nigeria and other countries. She demonstrates her experience in planning and coordinating environmental field studies in line with industry-standard protocols as well as conducting and managing multi stakeholder consultations as part of data gathering assessments on various projects. She also utilises her proficiency in the application of global and local environmental and social legislation and guidelines such as World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguards, AfDB Environmental and Social Safeguards, IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Equator Principles, GRI Sustainability Standards etc. to assess and report on significant environmental and social impacts and risks on various projects.
