Conduct a 3-day Proving Navigation Simulation Study (NSSP) for LNG vessel access to and from Berths 11 and 12 , port of Onne, Nigeria

GasInvest, Nigeria, intends developing an LNG capability at either berth 11 and/or berth 12, the port of Onne. The berths will either be for single vessel occupancy or berthed alongside a host LNG vessel for both berths.

CARES Maritime Division was commissioned to:

• Establish whether access is achievable to and from Berths 11 & 12.

• Conduct arrival, turn and departure manoeuvres to both berths and for ‘single’ or ‘double/host’ occupancy.

• Establish a broad appreciation of the levels of maritime safety risk to the DV and the port.

• Develop environmental and operational Baseline Statements for DV limits (mitigation).

• Identify key safety areas (i.e., ‘Pinch Point’ (PP)) that require investigation.

• Develop the types of port management ‘enabling activities’ that are likely to be needed for access to both berths.

• Develop a broad appreciation of the levels of maritime safety risk to the DV and the port.

Project Aim: To assess access of an LNG design vessel
