ESIA Scoping Study for the KwaH2 Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Project.
ENERTRAG Ghana wishes to develop a 400 MW – 500 MW hybrid solar and wind renewable energy facility at Kwahu Ridge, Eastern Region. The renewable energy produced will primarily be used to power a green hydrogen production facility and to produce hydrogen derivatives, including ammonium nitrate fertilizer. As the proposed project is likely to have significant environmental and social impacts, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) must be carried out as part of decision-making.
Prior to commencing the full ESIA study, CARES Group were commissioned to conduct the ESIA Scoping Study to identify the environmental, social, and health sensitivities and project activities with the potential to contribute to, or cause, impacts to environmental or social receptors.
At the Scoping Stage, these key issues were identified and understood to a level that allows the remainder of the impact assessment to be planned. This enabled the resources for the ESIA to be focused on collecting the relevant information, identifying significant impacts, and carrying out stakeholder engagement activities in an effective and efficient manner.
