Ghana Economic Transformation Project The Ministry of Finance has received funding from

the World Bank for the implementation of the Ghana Economic Transformation Project (GETP) and CARES were commissioned to assess the environmental and social impacts and risks associated with the design, construction, and operations of the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Project and to propose practical and effective mitigation measures to prevent or reduce any negative implications of the project.

The ESIA is being undertaken for Phase I of the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic Zone Project on approximately 600-acre Boankra land at Ejisu in Kumasi which is the site of one of the main Government of Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda.

To ensure smooth and effective operations within the Industrial City and Special Economic Zone, Phase I (to be financed under the GETP) includes the development of an administration and office building complex, offsite and onsite roads (including peripheral and internal roads with drainage system), firefighting facilities (including fire hydrants, sprinkler, and foam systems), electricity sub-station, and security post and entrance.
