Preparation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for Six Ghanaian Airports

CARES Group was responsible for the preparation of EMPs for each of the following airports: Kotoka International Airport (KIA), Kumasi Airport, Tamale Airport, Sunyani Airport, Wa Airport, and Ho Airport.

To prepare the six EMPs CARES Group deployed a team of Environmental, Social, and Health and Safety experts. CARES experts conducted a desk study of existing and available documentation on the airports. Following the completion of the Desk Study, CARES experts completed stakeholder engagement / public consultation exercises, as well as site audit visits at each of the six airports.

The findings of the desk study, stakeholder engagement, and site audit visits, were used to prepare EMPs for each of the airports.

The six EMPs have been submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in pursuance of obtaining renewed Environmental Permits for the six airports, whilst ensuring continual improvement in environmental performance and increasing environmental awareness with Ghana Airports Company Ltd.
