Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the Ports Takoradi and Tema

With bigger and better facilities being phased in by GPHA, and the central government offering new incentives for trade, value addition services, manufacturing, and export, more and more shippers

are discovering the benefits of using Ghana’s ports. Consequently, the ports have undergone substantial development based on strategically engineered masterplans.

As a result, GPHA commissioned CARES to undertake a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to take account of the implementation of these master plans, the

resulting in changes in port operations and clusters, and ongoing developments in the Tema and Takoradi Ports.

CARES was also responsible for providing an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the current

port operations and supporting the acquisition of Environmental Permits from the regulators, the

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
