The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of the proposed Keta Port following the successful completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and subsequent approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The EIA report was delivered by Coastal and Reclamation Engineering Services Ghana Limited (CARES Group), demonstrating the firm’s technical expertise and commitment to rigorous environmental standards in large-scale infrastructure development.
Representing CARES Group, Nii Tackie-Obile formally presented the report to Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, Director General of GPHA. In his remarks, the Director General described the achievement as a critical step toward realising GPHA’s strategic vision of developing a third commercial port in Ghana. He further commended the consulting and engineering teams for their diligence and professionalism in delivering a comprehensive EIA process that meets regulatory requirements.
CARES Group continues to play a pivotal role in supporting sustainable infrastructure across Africa through robust environmental and social assessments. The successful approval of the EIA not only ensures regulatory compliance but also strengthens investor confidence as the project advances into its next phase. With EPA approval secured, the Keta Port project will now progress to further stakeholder engagement and investment discussions, marking an important step in enhancing Ghana’s port capacity and reinforcing its position as a key trade hub in the region.
