Ports & Harbours Engineer

Peter has over 30 years’ experience in planning, design and supervision of construction of marine and harbour works, working for major UK consultants. After many years general experience in the design and construction of port related projects in many parts of the world, recent experience has centred on the following areas:

Project management – responsible for production of studies, designs and tender documents; including client liaison and direction of sub-consultants, site investigation contractors and hydraulic modellers.

Operational and planning studies for proposed and existing ports – these have included, studies into two oil jetties and a sugar terminal in Lagos, a pre-FEED study of marine facilities for a new refinery in Angola, masterplans for the Ports of Mina Zayed and Ajman, and assessments of ports in Namibia, Java, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Marinas – planning studies at Hayle (UK), Athens and Muscat, and design of a complete marina in Muscat. Fishing harbours – planning, site investigations, modelling and design reviews.

Hydraulic modelling of ports and channels – including liaison with hydraulic laboratories and development of in-house mathematical modelling. Currently directing studies into a major expansion of the approach channel to Bonny LNG Terminal, Nigeria

Breakwater design – responsible for design or design review for several breakwaters, including supervision of flume testing.

Contract administration – Resident Engineer at Port of Vlora (Albania), and head office administration of major port projects at Mina Zayed, Rangoon and Oman.
