As part of concerted efforts by the British High Commission, to prevent and/ or reduce illegal migration into the UK; the UK Nigeria reintegration pathway project was designed to provide social, practical assistance to Nigerian citizens who are returned from the UK through enforced means. The project
included provision of support to any returnee who genuinely needsit; ensuring a mitigation of socio-economic related risks, such as destitution and challenges associated with reintegration especially with regards to vulnerable persons such as families, children and the elderly.
CARES was assigned by the Foreign Commonwealth Office to:
• Provide effective post arrival assistance at the airport to enforced returnees on charter flights
• Provide additional reintegration support to minors, families, vulnerable individuals (including those
belonging to religious or ethnic minorities and disabilities); and
• Monitor and Evaluate re-integration of enforced returnees after a stipulated period
