CARES Group was commissioned to carry out a vendor due diligence assessment of the environmental status of the site.
The assessment was undertaken in general accordance with American Standard ASTM E1527-13 (Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments), in so far as applicable in Nigeria.
A desk study was carried out to obtain information from Nigerian databases and desktop resources regarding the site setting, topography, geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, flood risk, sensitive land uses (nature reserves), site history, historical contamination
Field visits followed with interviews conducted and information collected on:

• Environmental Topics – Air Emissions, Environmental Noise, Further Emissions, Water and Wastewater, Hazardous Substances, Waste Management, Restricted Substances/Building Materials (asbestos, PCBs etc.), Mining Subsidence
• Soil and Groundwater – Database Review and Regulator Search, Known Soil and Groundwater Impacts, Potential Soil and Groundwater Impacts
• Country Specific Legal Requirements and Regulation
• Findings and Conclusions – Recognized Environmental
