The Nigerian Ports Authority identified a requirement for complete replacement and upgrading of the Aids to Navigation in the Bonny River.
The complete replacement and upgrading of the Aids to Navigation in the Bonny River were required to provide safe passage of vessels of the deeper draft that were operating at the new quays within the navigational channel at the port.
The project involved the system design and specification in consultation with the main channel users and in line with IALA recommendations.
The project also involved layout simulations and optimisation; tender preparation and procurement of the Aids to Navigation; contract award and supervision with positioning control for installation works; and pilot training and commissioning.
