The Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) wished to construct and operate a new Oil Products Jetty near to their existing facilities at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) jetties in Apapa.
The proposed jetty was intended to help with the positioning of oil tanker vessels; ease the scheduling, berthing and unloading of cargoes and will comprise of a safe approach to berth, breasting dolphins, mooring dolphins, a loading platform and various safety facilities.
To assist with this consideration NIPCO commissioned CARES Group to carry out a Technical Feasibility Study, Preliminary Design and HAZID Risk Assessment for the new Jetty.
As the implementation of the proposed project would result in various interactions between planned activities and the natural and socioeconomic environment CARES Group completed an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
The ESIA was successfully approved by the regulators, the Federal Ministry of Environment.
