Noise Exposure

CARES Group was appointed to conduct a Noise Environmental Survey on the Floating, Production and Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel the Kwame Nkrumah.

A CARES Group led Occupational Hygiene Needs Assessment found that the main occupational risk on board the FPSO was operative exposure to noise. As a result the client requested CARES Group to carry out a review of the facilities noise management.

A detailed, site wide noise survey was carried out. Areas and operations were identified where personnel were likely to be exposed to noise levels, which may present a risk to human health.

The survey included both spot noise measurements of sound pressure and personal noise dose measurements and the results were used to present a site wide noise map alongside an assessment of likely noise doses / time weighted average exposure. A list of jobs in which the Peak Action Level may be exceeded was produced.

The study identified workers who were likely to be exposed to the Lower Action Value or above. The report provided enough information for action to be taken where necessary.

The report provided key information to facilitate complying with The Control of Noise at Work Regulations, 2005. CARES Group continues to support the management of the Jubilee Oil Field.
