ALSCON, a 193,000 smelter was brought to a standstill with high production costs, inadequate gas supply, and poor marine access.
As a result, CARES Group was appointed to provide the consultancy, design and supervision services in association with developing the marine access.
In order to develop the marine access CARES Group provided dredging consultancy and channel design services.
The dredging consultancy and channel design services included; design and supervision services covering the feasibility study (including the initial bathymetric survey, capital dredging volume estimates and siltation estimates); contract administration (technical prequalification and commercial tender); design of the navigational channel and Aids to Navigation (AtoN); drafting of specifications and the contract documents; and adopted the role of the engineer during the construction.
