The LADOL Free Zone is being developed to ensure that Nigeria benefits directly from its deep, offshore oil and gas reserves; by creating world-class facilities and services to encourage utilisation of Nigerian companies in deep water oil operations.

To support the development of the Free Zone LADOL have prepared a development scheme for their berths at Middle and Lighthouse Creeks in Lagos Harbour, for work on Floating Production and Offloading Vessels (FPSO’s).

As part of the approval procedure by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) LADOL requested CARES Group to complete a Navigation Simulation Exercise to model vessel movement in the proximity of the new LADOL quays and to determine the feasibility of towing a FPSO into Lighthouse Creek.

CARES Group also successfully completed a Hydrodynamic Evaluation using the Regional Ocean Modelling System (ROMS) to determine the extent that the current regime of Lagos Harbour will change as a result of the planned dredging works.

CARES Group assessed the impact that the expected changes to the current regime would likely have upon the sediment dynamics; including, on deposition and erosion.
