Dredgeability Analysis

Following on from an offshore site investigation carried out in September/October 2013 for a new port in Uruguay CARES Group was asked to carry out a conceptual study to determine the suitability of the soil conditions for the dredging and construction of the port

It was concluded that a further more detailed site investigation is required to better understand the conditions at the site. It may also be possible that no additional fill will be required as the amount to be dredged is about 5 to 10 million cubic metres greater than the amount required for fill. However, it is recommended that an assessment is made during the next site investigation as to the availability of suitable material and boreholes be drilled to investigate possible sources of fill should there be a likely shortfall.
