Creek Road Terminal Navigation Simulation Services

As part of a joint engineering design and maritime proving project, a navigation simulation study was
used to establish maritime safety risk for vessels berthed on – and vessel traffic passing – the
conceptual jetty extension in the port of Lagos.
CARES Maritime Division was commissioned:

To examine and provide simulation evidence whether a 33m jetty extension into the Badagry
Channel will impact on channel access, maritime safety risk and safe navigation for berthed and passing vessels.
Assessment criteria included: Ship-to-ship and ship to bank interaction (longitudinal and lateral force
levels); aspects of general channel navigation; ‘enabling activities’; and a review of Aids to Navigation.
