Dams and Reservoirs

CARES Engineers have been involved in the design and construction of major earth and rock fill dams throughout the world. We have particular experience on lined reservoirs and have acted as experts on several projects. CARES are currently engaged on five large lined reservoirs in North Africa including construction supervision and safety monitoring. Mr Sheerman-Chase is an All Reservoirs Panel Engineer under the UK Reservoirs Act. He was Construction Engineer for new reservoirs for Bournemouth and West Hampshire Water. Other clients include Corporation of London and British Sugar plc. He continues to carry out Inspections under the Act on a variety of reservoirs.

Mr Sheerman-Chase is a recognized international expert. He has been involved with some of the largest projects in the world including.

• The world’s largest asphaltic lined reservoir – AKNE Reservoir, Libya
• Reservoirs for the Great Man-Made River Project, Libya - world’s largest water supply project
• Safety monitoring of a 128 metre high hydropower dam in Vietnam
• Major Irrigation and hydropower dams in Africa.
• Design of sand fill lagoons for the Channel Tunnel Project
